Q: How do I apply for housing?

A: The application for The Flats is an online process that can be found on our website.

Q: Does the Flats at East-West provide staff in the community?

A: There are professional and paraprofessional (Community Advisors, or CAs) staff working and living in the community. The staff provides opportunities for each resident to enhance their personal, interpersonal, and educational development. Residents are encouraged to talk to their CA or the professional staff about any concerns or questions they may have.

Q: Can I access the Internet from my room?

A: Yes, all of the apartments in The Flats at East-West have free wireless internet connectivity.

Q: Is there a Housing Application deadline?

A: No, however, students who apply prior to Feb 13, 2017 will receive priority attention in the room assignment process. Housing applications are accepted throughout the year and assignments are made based on space availability.

Q: What is the difference between “submitting an application” and “signing a License Agreement”?

A: When you submit your application you are informing us that you are interested in residing at The Flats at East-West. There is no official or binding agreement between you and The Flats at East-West, just your application. Fees associated with your application are non-refundable and non-transferable.

When you sign a Housing License Agreement, you are signing a legally-binding agreement to reside in The Flats at East-West for the full term of the Agreement (i.e. Academic Year vs. Full Year).

Q: When will I find out my assigned apartment and roommate(s) information?

A: Students who have submitted a completed application and License Agreement will generally receive their assignment and roommate(s) information in mid-summer. An email will be sent to your preferred email account containing the assigned apartment, roommate’s name and their email address in addition to payment information.

Q: What is furnished in The Flats at East-West University?

A: Each resident will be provided an XL twin bed with mattress, desk, chair, and closet space. The Living Room will have a sofa, chair, and coffee table, and end table for the residents of that apartment. The kitchen includes a stove, refrigerator and microwave.

Q: Will the cost be covered by financial aid?

A: If a student is receiving any financial aid (i.e. loans, grants, scholarships, etc.) and has money remaining after all tuition and fees are paid, the student may apply those funds toward the cost of housing. It is important that you work with your Financial Aid department in determining your eligibility for funding.

Q: What is included in the cost of my housing?

A: Your housing fee includes all utilities, basic cable, wireless internet, and 24 hour use of all amenities (full court basketball gym, yoga room, strength/cardio workout rooms, computer lab/printer, discounted space usage for residents, and events/programs put on by the student housing office)

Q: Is there a laundry facility in The Flats?

A: There are washers and dryers on every other floor. There is no additional charge to the residents for use of the machines.

Q: Can I ship items to The Flats before I move-in?

A: Yes! The Flats has partnered with USS Inc. to provide a “Ship To Your Room” Program. You can avoid the high cost of airline baggage fees and lugging boxes through the airport. Q:  Where can I submit a work order for my apartment?

A: Residents can submit a work order using the Handteq mobile app. It can be downloaded on iOS or Android devices. Work orders are completed according to priority and are typically finished within 24 hours. iOS Download | Android Download
